campalot or Grondia? Integration breadth, or the Swiss core built in.

campalot is a serious, integration-rich DACH incumbent: a deep catalogue of named partners for payments, access control, metering, accounting, POS and guest registration. Grondia takes the other approach: the Swiss statutory core is in the product, hosted in Switzerland, in four languages. Here is the comparison, using only what each vendor publishes.

Who campalot is for

campalot describes itself as a paperless, cloud-based system for campsites and RV parks, automating bookings, payments and admin, with core markets in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark. Its real strength is breadth of integration: the vendor’s site names partners for payments (PayPal, Stripe, and the Swiss-relevant Saferpay and Wallee, plus Telecash), access control (Comydo), utility metering (edelboxx, CampConcept, Camping-Strom), accounting (Lexware, onRech), point of sale (VECTRON, ready2order) and guest registration / Meldewesen (feratel, WinTOP, AVS, cardXperts).

If you already run a particular payment terminal, metering system or accounting package and want a camping platform that plugs into it, campalot deserves a serious look. That integration surface is genuinely deep, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Where the two differ is assembly versus built-in. campalot reaches Swiss- and Meldewesen-relevant capability through third-party integrations; Grondia builds the Swiss statutory work (guest-night statistics, Kurtaxe, the Meldeschein) into the product and hosts its database, backups and files in Switzerland. Both are legitimate. The right one depends on whether you want a hub for your existing stack or a Swiss-native core you do not assemble yourself.

“Not publicly documented” means we found no statement about it on the vendor’s public pages. It does not mean the capability is absent. If it matters to you, ask them directly.

Our side of it

What Grondia is built for

01

Swiss hosting, Swiss company, Swiss law

Databases, backups and file storage sit in Swiss data centres, and CampOne GmbH answers to Swiss jurisdiction. That is a structure, not a promise, and it is worth asking any vendor to put in writing.

02

The Swiss statutory core is built in, not assembled

guest-night statistics, Kurtaxe and the Meldeschein are generated from data captured once, at booking and check-in. campalot reaches guest-registration capability through capable integrations like feratel and AVS; the difference is whether the Swiss core is built in or wired together from parts.

03

The payment rails Austrian guests use

Debit card, SEPA invoice, EPS-Überweisung, SEPA direct debit and cards through a licensed payment provider, and campalot, to its credit, also names Saferpay and Wallee. Where Grondia goes further is the SEPA invoice reference that reconciles back to the booking on its own.

04

Four languages, published pricing

German, French, Italian and English out of the box, and a rate card on the pricing page: from €99 per month billed yearly. You can size the cost before you ever book a call.

How we protect data
Switching

Switching from campalot

Your data is yours, and the move is part of onboarding rather than a project you run alone.

1. Export your data

Pull your bookings, guest records and rates out of campalot. Most platforms, ours included, provide standard exports; ask your vendor for the formats they support.

2. We map and configure

We map inventory, rates, guests and forward bookings into Grondia and set up seasons, tourist tax and local payment rails for your municipality. Covered by the one-time onboarding fee on the pricing page.

3. Check, then cut over

You verify the calendar and guest list against your own records before go-live, and your team is trained on the way. Typically about two weeks end to end.

FAQ

Common questions

Is campalot a bad product?
No, and we will not build a page pretending it is. Its integration catalogue is one of the deepest in the DACH market: payments including Saferpay and Wallee, access control, metering, accounting, POS and Meldewesen partners. The honest question is whether you want a hub for an existing stack (campalot’s strength) or a Swiss-native core built into one product (ours).
Where is campalot’s data hosted?
We could not find a public data-residency statement on their pages, so we are not going to guess. Ask them. Our own answer: Grondia’s database, backups and files are hosted in Swiss data centres, and CampOne GmbH is a Swiss company under Swiss law.
Does campalot handle guest-night statistics and Kurtaxe?
Their site documents guest-registration / Meldewesen integrations (feratel, WinTOP, AVS, cardXperts) but not guest-night statistics or Kurtaxe specifically, which is not the same as saying they are absent, so ask them. In Grondia both are generated from the guest data captured at booking and check-in.
campalot integrates the exact terminal we already use. Does Grondia?
Maybe. Grondia ships its own payments, POS, accounting exports and access via the guest card, plus a documented REST API and webhooks. Send us the specific terminal, meter or accounting package and we will tell you straight whether it fits, rather than claim a catalogue we have not built.
What does campalot cost?
They do not publish a rate card: demo or quote only. We are not going to quote a competitor’s price we cannot confirm. Grondia’s pricing is on the pricing page: from €99 per month billed yearly, plus a one-time onboarding fee.
