Booking engine

A booking engine is the software on a property’s own website that lets guests check availability and complete a reservation directly.

A booking engine is the part of a property’s website that turns a visitor into a confirmed, paid reservation. It shows real-time availability and prices, lets the guest choose dates, unit type and extras, collects their details, and takes payment or a deposit — all without a phone call or email. Because it reads live availability from the property management system, what the guest sees is what can actually be sold. A good booking engine is fast, mobile-friendly and carries the property’s own branding rather than a third party’s. For campgrounds it is the tool that captures commission-free direct bookings, and it has to cope with campsite-specific choices such as pitch size, electricity, number of guests and vehicles, and length-of-stay rules. It is often embedded as a widget so the booking flow lives inside the site rather than redirecting away.
