Self-check-in

Self-check-in lets guests complete arrival formalities and access their accommodation without staff at a reception desk, typically online or at a kiosk.

Self-check-in moves the arrival process away from a staffed desk. Ahead of or on arrival, the guest confirms their details, registers the required information, pays any balance, and receives access — a code, a QR pass, a barrier PIN or a key from a smart lock. It can run entirely online before the guest travels, or through a kiosk or terminal on site. The benefits are shorter queues, arrivals outside office hours, and less repetitive front-desk work, which frees staff for hospitality rather than paperwork. It also captures the legally required guest data cleanly at source. For campgrounds, self-check-in is well suited to late-arriving touring guests and to sites that cannot staff reception around the clock; combined with online guest registration it can satisfy statutory reporting and tourist-tax collection while removing the classic bottleneck of everyone arriving on a Friday evening at once.
