Camping.care or Grondia? It comes down to which country you run in.
Camping.care is a capable Dutch platform with real breadth — a wide integration catalogue, a channel manager and a free entry tier. Grondia is built for one region and its rules: Swiss hosting, HESTA, Kurtaxe, the Meldeschein, TWINT and QR-Bill, in four languages. Here is the comparison, using only what each vendor publishes.
Who Camping.care is for
Camping.care (also written CampingCare) is a Dutch, cloud-based outdoor-hospitality platform that describes itself as AI-first and all-in-one, with tiers aimed at small and mid-sized sites, large facilities, and chains or groups. Its public material covers object management for pitches, bungalows, glamping units and moorings, AI guest-communication agents, a channel manager, a booking engine, a point of sale and self-service kiosks. The vendor states it offers 135 integrations, and third-party software directories list names including Mollie, Stripe, DATEV Report, Twinfield, Booking.com, Camping.info and Pitchup. The interface is offered in seven languages: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
That is a genuinely broad product, and if your priorities are integration breadth, channel reach and a free way to start, it deserves a serious look. We are not going to pretend otherwise.
Where the two products differ is depth in one region versus reach across many. Camping.care serves 16 countries by its own account; Grondia serves German-, French- and Italian-speaking Switzerland and the DACH market around it, which is why the Swiss statutory work — HESTA, Kurtaxe, the Meldeschein — is in the product rather than on a roadmap. Neither approach is wrong. They are different bets, and the right one depends on where your guests sleep.

Per cosa è costruito Grondia
Swiss hosting, Swiss company, Swiss law
Every byte — databases, backups, file storage — sits in Swiss data centres, and CampOne GmbH answers to Swiss jurisdiction. When a guest hands over an ID at check-in, that is the difference between a promise and a structure.
The Swiss statutory work is in the product
HESTA, Kurtaxe and the Meldeschein are generated from data you capture once, at booking and check-in. This is the part a multi-country platform has the least reason to build, and the part a Swiss operator cannot avoid.
The payment rails Swiss guests actually use
TWINT, Swiss QR-Bill, PostFinance, LSV and cards, through a licensed Swiss payment provider. QR-Bill references reconcile back to the booking on their own.
Four languages, including the ones Switzerland needs
German, French, Italian and English — Romandie and Ticino are not an afterthought. We run French- and Italian-default campsite sites in production.
Your website is part of the subscription
Every plan includes a designed, hosted site with the booking engine built in — not a separate CMS product, and not a separate invoice.
Switching from Camping.care
Nothing exotic. Your data is yours, and the move is part of onboarding rather than a project you run yourself.
1. Export your data
Pull your bookings, guest records and rates out of your current system. Most platforms, ours included, provide standard exports; ask your vendor for the formats they support.
2. We map and configure
We map inventory, rate structure, guests and forward bookings into Grondia and set up seasons, tourist tax and payment rails for your canton. Covered by the one-time onboarding fee on the pricing page.
3. Check, then cut over
You verify the calendar and guest list against your own records before go-live, and your team is trained on the way. Typically about two weeks end to end.
Domande frequenti
- Is Camping.care a bad product?
- No, and we are not going to build a page pretending it is. It has a broad integration catalogue, a channel manager covering many channels by the vendor’s own account, seven interface languages and a free way to start. The honest question is not "which is better" but "which is built for the rules you operate under" — and for a Swiss site, that is where the two diverge.
- Where is Camping.care’s data hosted?
- We could not find a public statement of data residency on their pages, so we are not going to guess — ask them directly. What we can tell you is our own answer: Grondia is hosted exclusively in Swiss data centres, and CampOne GmbH is a Swiss company under Swiss jurisdiction. That is worth asking any vendor, including us, in writing.
- Does Camping.care handle HESTA and Kurtaxe?
- Not something their public pages document, which is not the same as saying it is absent — ask them. It is a fair thing to test in a demo: bring your last HESTA return and ask each vendor to show you how it is produced. In Grondia it is generated from the guest data already captured at booking and check-in.
- What does Camping.care cost?
- They do not publish a rate card, though a free tier for small campsites is advertised. We have seen a per-user figure in a third-party software directory, but we are not going to quote a competitor’s price from a listing we cannot confirm — ask them. Grondia’s pricing is on our pricing page: from CHF 150 per month billed yearly, plus a one-time onboarding fee.
- How many campsites use each platform?
- Camping.care publishes its own scale figures; we found inconsistent numbers across sources, so we are not going to repeat any of them as fact. For our part, we would rather point you at our customer stories and let you call an operator who actually runs on Grondia than compete over a number on a homepage.
