A booking website, or a campsite platform behind it?
Lodgify is a well-known website builder and booking tool for vacation rentals, and it markets a camping landing page that ranks in German search. A campsite is a different operation: pitches on a map, tourers and seasonal contracts, guest-night statistics, Kurtaxe and the Meldeschein. Here is the comparison, using only what each vendor publishes.
Who Lodgify is for
Lodgify is a global software company whose core product is a website builder and booking system for vacation rentals and holiday homes, and it markets a German-language camping landing page that ranks well in search. If you run a handful of holiday cottages or apartments and want a polished booking website quickly, it is a capable, well-marketed choice.
A campsite is a different shape of business. Guests choose an exact pitch on a map; you sell tourers, motorhomes, glamping units and long-stay seasonal contracts, each with its own rules; and in Switzerland you owe guest-night statistics, the Meldeschein and per-commune Kurtaxe on top. That statutory and operational layer is what a camping-native, Swiss-hosted platform is built around, and it is where the two products stop overlapping.
This is not a knock on Lodgify. It does its job well. It is a question of which job you are buying software to do.

“Not publicly documented” means we found no statement about it on the vendor’s public pages. It does not mean the capability is absent. If it matters to you, ask them directly.
Everything stated about Lodgify comes from the vendor’s own public pages, checked on 17 July 2026; their own claims are attributed as such. Everything stated about Grondia is what we publish elsewhere on this site. Websites change. Check both for yourself before you decide.
What Grondia is built for
Camping-native, not a rental builder pointed at camping
Pitches on an interactive map, tourers and motorhomes and glamping and seasonal contracts as first-class units with their own rates and rules, the things a vacation-rental builder has no reason to model.
The Swiss statutory work is in the product
guest-night statistics, Kurtaxe and the Meldeschein are generated from the guest data captured at booking and check-in, the part a general booking tool leaves entirely to you.
Swiss hosting and local payment rails
Database, backups and files in Swiss data centres, and debit card, SEPA invoice, PayPal and SEPA direct debit through a licensed payment provider, with SEPA invoice references that reconcile back to the booking on their own.
A website is included either way
You do not have to give up a good booking website to get the campsite operations: every Grondia plan includes a designed, hosted site with the booking engine built in.
Switching from Lodgify
Your data is yours, and the move is part of onboarding.
1. Export your data
Pull your bookings, guest records and rates out of your current system; ask your vendor for the export formats they support.
2. We map and configure
We map inventory, rates, guests and forward bookings into Grondia and set up seasons, tourist tax and local payment rails. Covered by the one-time onboarding fee.
3. Check, then cut over
You verify the calendar and guest list against your own records before go-live. Typically about two weeks.
Common questions
- Is Lodgify a bad product?
- No. It is a strong, well-marketed website builder and booking tool for vacation rentals. This page is not about better or worse; it is about a different job. A campsite needs a pitch map, seasonal campers and statutory reporting, and that is a camping-native platform’s job, not a rental builder’s.
- Does Lodgify handle guest-night statistics, Kurtaxe and the Meldeschein?
- Not something we found documented on its camping page, which is not proof it is absent. Ask them. In Grondia all three are generated from the guest data captured at booking and check-in.
- Can Lodgify manage a pitch map and seasonal campers?
- Its core product is a vacation-rental website and booking tool; a campsite pitch map and long-stay seasonal contracts are not something its public camping page documents. Ask them. That inventory model is what Grondia is built around.
- We just want a good booking website. Isn’t that Lodgify?
- You can have both. Every Grondia plan includes a designed, hosted website with the booking engine built in, and behind it the campsite operations (pitches, tourist tax, PMS, POS) that a standalone website builder does not carry.
- What does Lodgify cost?
- We are not going to quote a competitor’s pricing from memory. Check their site. Grondia’s pricing is published: from €99 per month billed yearly, plus a one-time onboarding fee.
