Stellplatz (camping pitch)

A Stellplatz, or camping pitch, is the individual site allocated to one guest, vehicle or unit at a campground for the duration of their stay. Each Stellplatz is a defined area (typically marked on the ground and identified by a number), and that number is the identifier a booking system uses to track availability, pricing, check-in and check-out. Pitch types vary: a simple touring Stellplatz for a tent or motorhome, a serviced pitch with electricity and water hookups, a seasonal Stellplatz held under a long-term contract (Dauermieter), or a pitch that forms the footprint for a glamping cabin or pod. A related word, Standplatz, is used in some regions (particularly Switzerland) as a synonym; the two terms are interchangeable in most contexts. For campground management software, the Stellplatz is the atomic unit: every booking, rate rule, capacity calculation and occupancy report starts from the total number of pitches and what is available in each one on each night.
