A campsite till that knows your pitches
A campsite till is not a bakery till.

It has to know who is on pitch 42, put their two coffees and bike hire on their account, take the day visitor’s card on the terminal, hold several VAT rates and close the day cleanly. Grondia’s POS is part of the same system as the planning grid and reception: one sale, one guest account, one close.

Why a retail till is not enough for a campsite
A campsite sells across four counters: the morning shop, the lunchtime snack bar, the evening bar-restaurant and the hire of bikes, paddleboards or barbecues. A classic till treats each as an independent shop and takes payment at every pass. The result: cash at every counter, four closing reports at night, and no link to the person sleeping on the pitch.
What makes a campsite till specific is one word: the pitch. The same guest consumes for seven days and wants to settle once, at check-out, with their stay and their tourist tax. The till therefore has to share the guest account with reception. Otherwise the receptionist is adding up paper chits on Saturday morning, at departure time.
That is the first question to ask any campsite POS: are the till and the planning grid the same software, with the same guest, or two products joined by an export?
Shop, bar-restaurant, rentals: one till
Shop and kiosk: a barcode scan drops the article, price and VAT rate onto the ticket; weighed goods price from a connected scale; stock counts down with each sale, with a low-stock alert and a supplier re-order list. The article catalogue, with photos, is usable by a seasonal helper on their first shift.
Bar and restaurant: an open tab per table or per guest, orders sent to the kitchen and bar, menus with modifiers and allergens, a bill split evenly, by item or by guest, and happy-hour pricing that switches on at the scheduled hour.
Rentals and activities: bikes, e-bikes, paddleboards, kayaks. Each item has its availability per slot, a deposit taken and released on return, a waiver signed on screen or on the guest’s phone, and a late fee applied automatically. The three counters share the same catalogue, guest account and close; a sold-out item disappears from every till at once.
Charge to the pitch, or take it on the terminal or in cash
Every basket has two exits. The first: “on the pitch”. The sale posts to the guest’s account next to their stay and tourist tax, and they settle once at check-out. The second: immediate payment, by card on the terminal, in cash, or split across several methods. The day visitor pays now; the seasonal resident settles with their instalment.
The payment terminal is part of the till. The amount goes from the screen to the terminal without re-keying, and the payment reconciles itself to the ticket and the guest account. Grondia is the payment provider, so there is no terminal rented from a bank and software from a vendor that never speak to each other, and no card machine to balance at close. A terminal sale can also be attached to the pitch: the guest taps at the bar, the line appears on their account, and the stay total stays right.
End of day, VAT and accounting
The end of day on a campsite till should fit in one report: sales by counter, by payment method (cash, card, on the pitch) and by VAT rate, with deposits, security deposits and refunds. Several rates coexist on one ticket (groceries, eat-in, take-away, hire), and each line carries its own.
Because the till and invoicing are one system, the till report and the guest invoices cannot diverge. The accounting export carries every payment, every VAT line, every deposit and every refund, POS sales included, in a structured file your accountant imports without re-keying closing totals. Access is role-based: a seasonal helper on the shop till sees their till, not your finances, and every action is logged with user, time and operation.
Hardware, offline mode and fiscal obligations
The hardware is supplied, installed and supported by Grondia with the software: payment terminals, receipt printer, cash drawer, barcode scanner, self-service check-in kiosk. It arrives configured; you plug in and sell.
The till tolerates outages: when the wifi drops at the far end of the site, it keeps selling and syncs every sale, stock movement and pitch posting the moment the connection returns.
Grondia’s till complies with the fiscal obligations that apply to till software: sales records are stored tamper-proof, secured, retained and archived, and exportable for an audit. Ask us for the detail for your country; we answer in writing, as with everything else.
Häufige Fragen
What is the difference between a cash register and campsite POS software?
A classic cash register takes a sale and prints a ticket; it does not know who the guest is or which pitch they are on. Campsite POS software shares the guest account with reception: the shop or bar sale posts to the pitch, settles with the stay at check-out, and the end of day flows into invoicing and accounting without re-keying. At Grondia the till is a module of the same platform as the planning grid.
Can a bar or shop sale be charged to the pitch?
Yes. Every basket can post to the guest’s account, next to their stay and tourist tax, and be settled once at check-out. It can also be paid on the spot, by card on the terminal or in cash, or split across several methods: the day visitor pays now, the week-long guest settles at the end.
Which payment terminals and hardware work with the till?
Grondia supplies, installs and supports the hardware with the software: payment terminals integrated into the till as a payment method, the receipt printer, cash drawer, barcode scanner, connected scale and the self-service check-in kiosk. Everything arrives configured. Purchase or rental, depending on your site.
Does the till work without an internet connection?
Yes. The till is outage-tolerant: when the connection drops it keeps selling, then syncs every sale, stock movement and pitch posting as soon as the network is back.
Does Grondia’s till comply with fiscal obligations?
Yes. Sales records are stored tamper-proof, secured, retained and archived, and exportable for an audit; every action is logged with user, time and operation. Because the till and invoicing are one system, the till report and the guest invoices agree by construction. We set out in writing what applies in your country.
What does the campsite till cost?
The till is part of the Grondia platform; it is not a separately billed module. For your market the price is quoted by number of pitches, with no commission on your bookings. The hardware (terminals, printer, drawer, scanner) is offered for purchase or rental depending on how your site runs.
